Japan offers a wide range of accommodation depending on your preferences, they have hotels, ryokans (traditional Japanese inn), guesthouses / hostels and apartments for rent. If you are into a budget traveler, I recommend hostels and getting a dormitory type room.
Dormitory is a sleeping room containing several beds, if you don't have any problem in sharing a room with the strangers, then it's good to consider using dorms as your accommodation in your trip as it is cheaper especially when you are alone or doing solo trips.
In Osaka, you may consider Osaka Hana Hostel. I stayed here when I watched a concert: http://www.lostinreveries.com/2019/08/bigbang10-concert-0to10-in-japan.html
Osaka Hana Hostel is located at the heart of Shinsaibashi, a main shopping district where you can easily spend the whole day as it is also connected to Dotonburi. There are also restaurants and shops nearby and just 2 minutes walk from Subway Midosuji Line "Shinsaibashi" station.
I stayed at in 6-Bed Female Dormitory Room. Aside from dormitory which is all for sharing, they also offers private room with bath. They require you to put your shoes first at the shoe box near entrance and use a slipper provided by the hostel before you enter.
The dormitory-style rooms feature curtains which is a good thing because you still have privacy even though you have roommates, a bed lights, plug outlets and locker box in each bunk. The bathrooms, shower rooms and lavatory for dorms are shared too but it was clean and comfortable to use.
Moreover, guests can use the free-use computers and enjoy complimentary coffee/tea at the lounge, they can also use the shared kitchen to cook their own meals and store food in the fridge.
They have Japanese Sake Bar on the 1st floor, shared lounge at the 2nd floor and 7th floor, a coin-launderette (200 yen for washing machine and 100 yen for dryer) and a vending machine for drinks. They also have items for rent like bike, umbrellas and bath towels and other toiletries.
*There is no elevator from 1st floor to 2nd floor. Please note that you will have to carry your luggage up. From 2nd floor, you can use the elevator.
